So you've come to learn more about me... I too have an inquisitive nature. In this, we are brethren.
I have been knitting for 25 years, have worked at two local yarn stores, and never miss a fibre festival. I was privileged to learn the basics of knitting from my maternal grandmother when I was a child, and constantly push myself to improve and acquire new skills as an adult. I'm extremely passionate about teaching - my career background is in education and residential youth work - and derive quite a lot of joy out of personalizing lesson plans and helping students to achieve their learning goals.
I have a deep and enduring love for children and youth and a drive to see young people learn, succeed, and thrive in areas that capture them. I also do my best to hold myself accountable and to be conscious of the ways marginalization affects my communities (both local and global), and make changes and choices in my own life to combat, call out, and challenge bigotry, colonialism, and oppression. I am extremely passionate about equity and social justice and try to use the privilege I hold to uplift and centre voices that are often ignored.
I am queer and multiply disabled, and I welcome students of all ethnicities, religions, genders and orientations, dis/abilities, ages, and skill levels.
